Nuclear Energy

TECNA’s experience with nuclear technology dates back to the 1970’s.
TECNA delivered engineering services to several nuclear research and radioisotope production reactors.
This includes involvement as a subcontractor in the projects of the RA6 reactor in Bariloche, Argentina; RP10 in Huarangal, Perú and NUR in Algeria. At the low ebb of nuclear projects, TECNA was able to hire a team of experienced personnel that had been involved in the design and construction of the nuclear power plants Embalse (Candu, 600 MWe PHWR) and Atucha II (700 MWe PHWR) in Argentina.
Today at the Completion Project of the Atucha II nuclear power plant TECNA is delivering engineering and technical assistance under contract to the plants owner Nucleoeléctrica Argentina S.A. Work being performed is characteristic of the various tasks required by the complexities of restarting a delayed nuclear power plant project.
TECNA’s engineering services at this project include process engineering, piping and support design, electrical engineering, instrumentation, supervision of welding inspection and NDE, etc. Specialty services include code development for the client’s licensing, safety and core calculation group. Assistance to the owner’s start up team includes installation of specially adapted software for the planning and management of pre-commisioning and commissioning activities, as well as field services.
In the area of research reactors, TECNA has prepared recently part of the proposal engineering for the bid submitted by INVAP-ISOLUX early in 2009 to NRG (Netherlands). The scope of the project includes the supply of a nuclear research and radioisotope production reactor (PALLAS) that will serve as replacement of the existing HFR reactor. Award of this tender is expected early in 2010.
